Tjebbe de Jong, advises on valuation and damage calculation as an advisor, party-appointed expert, independent judicial expert or arbitrator in disputes and lawsuits. He joined Sman Business Value in 2021 as a partner. Tjebbe has extensive experience as a consultant and financial expert for companies, shareholders, lawyers, judicial authorities, regulators and (semi) government institutions. He has been registered as a judicial expert with the Dutch National Register of Judicial Experts (LRGD) since 2007.
His activities mostly relate to the Dutch market and jurisdiction. Over the course of his career, he has carried out many hundreds of valuations, damage calculations and consultancy assignments for international companies as well as for large and medium-sized Dutch companies, in a wide range of sectors such as Alstom, Habitat, Job4Us, NS and de Uithof.
Tjebbe has in-depth knowledge in the field of valuation, calculation of financial loss, restructuring and commercial disputes. Prior to Sman Business Value, he worked in the Dutch valuation and dispute practice of the international consultancy organization Alvarez & Marsal and in the corporate finance practices of Rabobank International and Deloitte.
Tjebbe studied both law (Leiden University) and business administration (Erasmus University). He also completed postgraduate courses in the field of valuation (Business Valuation, Rotterdam School of Management) and damage assessment (Company and Liability, Grotius Academy).
He is program director at the specialization course for Judicial Experts ‘The economic expert in civil damage cases’ at Juridisch PAO of Leiden University. He is also a lecturer in the specialization training ‘WHOA Restructuring Expert’ for the valuation section at Juridisch PAO Leiden. He has written articles on ‘Valuing with the WHOA’ (FIP) and as co-author on ‘The valuation of mismanagement’ (TOP). He regularly gives workshops on valuation and damage calculation at law firms.
